How Active Bridge Works

Built for the way technical people actuually get work done.

Vetted Contractor Network

Contractors put up portfolios, certifications, and actual project work. We check credentials—PE licenses, AWS certs, structural design experience, whatever your specialty is. Companies see who's done the job before, not just keywords on a resume.

Project-Based Job Board

No Full-time recruiter back-and-forth. These are contract jobs: a three-month infrastructure assessment, six-week system redesign, one structural engineering review. Scope and timeline are laid out. Nobody gets blindsided.

Skill Certifications & Resources

Prove you know what you're doing. Take industry courses—BIM, cloud architecture, structural analysis—and it shows on your profile. Hiring teams see actual skill work instead of just years-of-experience padding that nobody cares about.

Direct Matching for Specialists

A company needs a CAD architect with Revit for a hospital build or a Python backend person for fintech. The platform finds contractors with exactly those skills and a track record to back it up. It's precise. Faster than the generic job boards.

Industry Insights & Peer Network

Look at case studies from finished work. Talk to other engineers and architects in your space. See what's getting built, what tools people actually use, what people with your skills earn in your area. Information that matters.

For Contractors

Build Your Technical Reputation

What's the difference between a contractor who keeps getting steady work and someone refreshing job boards every single day? A portfolio that actually shows what you've done. Active Bridge lets you put real projects on display—the civil assessments you finished, the software systems you deployed, the structural designs that passed inspection. Upload case studies with photos, results, feedback from clients. When companies look at your profile, they're not just reading credentials. They're seeing what you've actually built. Your portfolio gets stronger over time. Each project you complete makes the next pitch easier. Certifications stick. References build up. You're creating real value in your reputation instead of starting over on each application.

Portfolio That Proves Work

Upload project photos, scope documents, and what clients said. They see what actually happened, not just a list.

Skill Verification

Show your certifications—PE licenses, AWS, Revit, PMP—checked against the actual issuing bodies. Hiring teams know it's legit.

Rate Visibility

Set your rate at the start based on what you specialize in and the scope of work. No back-and-forth haggling. Everything's clear upfront.

What Active Bridge Actually Gives You

Three things that shift how you find and land contract work.

1

Hiring Managers Find You

A hiring manager spots the right contractor in hours, not weeks. Your profile lives in a searchable database filtered by your discipline, certifications, and the kinds of projects you've done. A company looking for a structural engineer who's worked on bridges or a cloud architect with GCP credentials can find you right away.

Your Work Does the Talking

You won't be asked for references anymore. Instead they'll look at your finished projects, read what clients said about you, and check the actual deliverables you uploaded. That kind of real proof matters way more than keywords on a resume.

Set Your Own Rate

You decide what you charge based on the scope and your specialization. Put it on your profile. That's it. No endless back-and-forth about price. Companies see what they'll pay before they even reach out, so you're not getting lowball offers because the number's already on the table.

Projects Completed Through Active Bridge

You won't find generic stock photos here. These are actual projects that contractors built and submitted to their portfolios—infrastructure audits, software rollouts, structural evaluations, systems architecture that actually went live and got client sign-off. This is what hiring managers see when they're looking for someone who's really shipped work.

Frequently Asked

Straight answers about how things actually work here, what you'll pay, and whether it's worth your effort. No fluff.

Most people see their first contract match somewhere around two weeks after they finish their profile. If you've got something speciallized — like a PE license in structural engineering — things can move way faster, sometimes within a couple days. A lot hinges on what your field is, how polished your profile looks, and whether the rates you're asking for are reasonable.

Contractors don't pay anything to list work or bid on projects. When a company hires someone, they cover a placement fee that usually runs about 15% of what that first contract's worth. That covers all the vetting, the support you get and keeping the platform running. If you're on the hiring side just looking at talent, nothing costs you until you actually make an offer.

Completely. You control exactly who sees your profile — you can block specific companies or whole industries from viewing it. There's also a private mode if you're currently employed and want to keep things quiet. Companies get that people look around for opportunities; nobody's going to hold that against you.

Your actual work history tends to matter more than the piece of paper. A project you've completed, with real deliverables and client feedback and numbers showing what you did, will outweigh most credentials. That said, if there's a specific certification that companies in your field actually care about — PMP, AWS, a PE license — we point you toward solid training options and you can earn them while you're working.

Everyone goes through a background check. We also verify any certifications you claim by checking directly with whoever issued them. Say you're a PE licensed in California, we confirm that with the state board. We look at your portfolio work to make sure it's legit. It's not perfect, but hiring companies aren't guessing.

Active Bridge doesn't sit in the middle handling contract disputes. You and the company work that out directly. What matters is spelling out your terms from the start: your rate, what the scope includes, what happens if they pull the plug. Put all that in the statement of work. And if a company refuses to pay, we mark them and other contractors know about it.
